Great video! I’ve been using milk thistle for a few years now. I was taking methotrexate, xeljanz, leflounamide and narcotics daily plus some. I’m not taking any of those now. I use kratom and milk thistle and valerian root instead of the pharmas. I honestly didn’t know that it helps the liver. Good to know though. My entire diet is organic, soy free, beef free dairy free, pork free, oxalate free and nightshade free. I mainly eat protein from different sources and it’s always the same stuff. But it works. You should do a video on the daily recommendations for grains if you haven’t already. Personally I believe that the food pyramid is set up in order to make us sick and to stay sick. LoL another good video! I appreciate when I find medical professionals who actually know WTF they’re talking about. So many don’t, anymore.

Dr. Sung, I watch many herb and wild plant videos and I absolutely love your videos however I would like to help you help us viewer. Every herbal video I watch from no matter who the maker avoid describing what part of the plant they are referring to… Is it the route, the leaves, the stem the flower, the stock or the plant in its entirety that is being referred too. I have a lot of milk thistle growing behind my home so I surely would not buy it. I would rather harvest it myself and experiment with it on an incremental level. Please help to define the part of the plant that you are referring to thank you very much

Excellent video. I’m looking to take milk thistle seed for maintenance, thyroid benefits, and just detox the liver in general. I have the whole seeds. I was going to grind them and just taking that and flushing it with water but then I ran across some research that said that they’re not very absorbable. I read that if you take it with a fat it absorbs better. I also read somewhere that you need to take it on an empty stomach.Do you know anything about these two points?

  25. Neely Witham on July 7, 2023 at 7:36 am

I could listen to you talk about nutrition all day. You’re a great speaker and I just love that you care about people inside and out!

Milk Thistle does wonders. I’ve used it myself to help lazy thyroid and also suggested to a relative who suffered from fatty liver. It worked in both cases very well.
I wish more doctors knew about this.

What of Dr practice is this called and where do I move. I have often said I like a Doctor who tell what I may need to stop and what may help change by diet, exercise, mental health then consider a prescription medication or treatment. I think I said it. I so appreciate you providing such wealth of information along with thoughtful views on what to consider…….

How much milk thistle we should use daily ? Some supplements are 1000-4000 per day isn’t it too much ?

  35. JKM jemmadesigns on July 7, 2023 at 7:49 am

With men it is not really properly called estrogen dominance but the fact that their bodies do not have enough testosterone and family to turn into the estrogens needed through aromastase process, for the needs of their bones, tissues, muscles, brain…When not enough T is available the body turns to making fat which creates the estrogen needed…just as in menopausal women… it is the prospective…the balance…

    Hello doctor!

I’ve been taking Milk Thistle as I am taking supplements for training and I want to protect my liver. However, I’ve been having diarrhea for about a week.

Does this mean I am detoxing, or is it a bad symtom and I should stop using it?

  37. Carl Chichioco on July 7, 2023 at 7:54 am

hi doctor, what if recently my gallbladder was removed due to fats build up and some other things. and was diagnose with a fatty liver? can I take milk thistle to support my liver ? thank you

  38. Juliesunshine 333 on July 7, 2023 at 7:55 am

Hemorrhoids are an indication of liver damage according to naturepath doctors. When I take Tylenol I get hemorrhoids every single time! Painful and bloody. When I take milk thistle the hemorrhoids disappear! So these doctors are totally right. Pass it on. Hemorrhoids=liver damage or stress.

Dr. Jin Sung, I have been taking 200 mg of Milk Thistle 2-3x’s weekly for more than 7 years to maintain a healthy Liver. My Liver was severely inflamed in 2010 and I quickly changed my lifestyle to healthy diet and exercise after a "detox." I am 66 years old and still eating healthy and walking daily. QUESTION: Should I be concerned about the prolonged taking of my Milk Thistle?
