Elbrus is built on EPIC type of architecture.

  2. DAVID GREGORY KERR on August 31, 2023 at 3:15 pm

What about sourcing the Russian hardware from Latvia.

I’m a fan of the RTX-2000 . Because in actual fact the parameters come first. No matter how you do the notation. My first engineering calculator was the HP-35.

  8. Daniel Klishch on August 31, 2023 at 3:19 pm

Sorry but Borsch is a Ukrainian national dish not russian and always was!

  18. siteking on August 31, 2023 at 3:34 pm

How are those 16nm going in 2022? They even aren’t up to doing 28 anymore – more like 82 (and not even that) hehehe

  19. muhammad sholich on August 31, 2023 at 3:36 pm

Now, we know the reason why… 28nm or 16nm is fine for 3-5years, before goes to under 10nm.

  20. Adrian Coanda on August 31, 2023 at 3:36 pm

Non standard cpus you will find in any other countries , but if no software supports the hardware it will work at 50%of the capacity due to an emulator that needs to adapt the software for that kind of hardware

  21. Tony. Solar on August 31, 2023 at 3:37 pm

    OOO Processing

  22. Malcolm Bloor on August 31, 2023 at 3:37 pm

Determinism and provable correctness looks to be pretty impossible for this approach, which may be problematic for sensitive military use.

  23. Phong Nguyen on August 31, 2023 at 3:37 pm

Russian can stand alone and produce 28nm.
No other country can, even the US now rely on Taiwan .

зачем вы вставляете гимн ? каждый раз вставать приходится

  25. Rust on August 31, 2023 at 3:39 pm

    Borsh is the Ukrainian dish.

  26. xl on August 31, 2023 at 3:40 pm

Acc to wikipedia, a major bank in Russia was offered to switch to Elbrus and it didn’t work out.
It was found that it was unreliable.

  27. LedoCool1 on August 31, 2023 at 3:41 pm

Elbrus is only 80% efficient as x86 when it tries doing binary translation. I.E emulation of x86. When it runs it’s native code it outperforms x86 in parallel tasks by a huge margin.

  28. Jan Marucha on August 31, 2023 at 3:41 pm

If CPU can be made of wet plywood then russia is able to manufacture it

  32. Lord Marcus on August 31, 2023 at 3:49 pm

    And then, the war happened.

  33. Andrej Tag on August 31, 2023 at 3:52 pm

It runs the russian version of crysis now.

  34. Al3ks3y T4nk3r on August 31, 2023 at 3:52 pm

I bet the russians had the fastest gaming cpu in the 90s lol.

  35. The Avid African on August 31, 2023 at 3:53 pm

I love when Russia is doing their own things.

  36. Nightquaker on August 31, 2023 at 3:53 pm

Yeah, about the 16nm 16-core Elbrus chips. Not gonna happen in foreseeable future.
TSMC got Russia’s chip supply cut off for both Elbrus and Baikal chips due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

  37. Operator-5781 on August 31, 2023 at 3:53 pm

    Russian chips are garbage

  38. MrGallbladder on August 31, 2023 at 3:53 pm

Kudos on pronouncing borsch correctly, without the T.

  39. Max Maloshtan on August 31, 2023 at 3:54 pm

Borscht is a Ukrainian dish… not a good time to joke like this

  40. SAN KIS ETS on August 31, 2023 at 3:57 pm

Compared to fake moon landing america…Russia is far best & genuine

  41. darthvader5300 on August 31, 2023 at 3:59 pm

    Don Pagani 3 years ago
To those who constantly mouth off on Russia’s backwardness in computer tech: Elbrus architecture is far more advanced than any other the West’s counterparts. Russian computer scientists who have made Intel’s most powerful microprocessors nowadays: Vladimir Pentkovski, and Boris Babayan

  42. darthvader5300 on August 31, 2023 at 3:59 pm

    Use Russian Elbrus CPU!

  43. Stefan Stefanov on August 31, 2023 at 3:59 pm

Just change Э with З and then ь with о and you got Злобрус which means similar to malicious 🙂 Coincidence right?

  44. Lightning Mike on August 31, 2023 at 4:03 pm

The funny thing is that the 28nm chips are imported because of fabless manufacturing. On their own, Russia can only make _90nm_ chips. And, looking at how things are right now, they’re gonna be stuck with those for a while.

  45. Dom Noya on August 31, 2023 at 4:04 pm

So they are creating an industry that has guaranteed government financing and no incentive to compete. Did they learn nothing from the failure of the soviet economy? The private sector makes really good stuff really fast because of competition. When you remove that competition and guarantee government business, you end up with garbage that is made by people who don’t really need to make a good product. They just need to keep politicians happy. Russia is going to end up with the same garbage economy the soviet union had but without the massive population and any of the benefits that the soviet system generated from a command economy. They have a command economy now but without the socialist parts that make it much easier and more comfortable to live life poor compared to capitalist economies.

  46. Kenneth Janczak on August 31, 2023 at 4:04 pm

Russia don’t have a flying crap…….. car gps taped to there jet fighters dashboard……….yyyyeeeeeeerhhhhhhhaaaaass…..

  49. M Simon on August 31, 2023 at 4:09 pm

VLIW? The Russians were big fans of Forth from the beginning. They couldn’t throw hardware at problems. The American RTX-2000 (A VLIW instruction set machine – 16 bit) crashed on an asteroid.
