Shimmering Rutilated Quartz Polished Crystals
Here at Rocks for the Spirit we are totally obsessed with Rutilated Quartz. Rutile inclusions display a beautiful and mesmerizing shimmer of light. In this video we feature some of our recent favorite, high quality Rutilated Quartz crystals including Red, Silver, and Gold colored Rutile. Rutile is a metallic mineral that typically grows in thin needles inside of Quartz crystals. All of the crystals in this video are polished or shaped to highlight the amazing Rutile inclusions inside.
Interesting facts about Rutile:
Rutile crystals have the special optical properties of high refractive index and high dispersion which creates beautiful rainbows and a mesmerizing play of light.
The word Rutile is derived from the Latin word Rutilus which means red.
Asterisms found in star Ruby, star Sapphire, and star Rose Quartz are caused by micro inclusions of fibrous Rutile.
Rutile is primarily composed of titanium dioxide and it sometimes forms aligned in a perfect six rayed star.
