Rhodonite & Rhodochrosite Mining – Betts Manganese Mine | Garnet & Pyrite Crystal Hunting #mining

Here’s a trip i took to plainfield Mass where there’s some nice rhodonite, Rhodochrosite, garnets, and Pyrite! Found some really neat specimens, was surprised by the cubic pyrite and green mica. Its a pretty neat place to mine some rhodonite! Mining is permitted to 4 hours and one 5 gal. bucket of material per person. You must also obtain permission for your permit to mine here.

Thank you for watching! like the video if you made it until the end!

I went to Betts Mine today. I found the rocks too difficult for me to break. I found a few pink pieces, mostly pale pink. However the quartz I found was fabulous. Also found a piece of schist with small garnets.

I went to the Betts manganese mine on the 15th of June (yesterday as I posted this comment) and had a nice time there. I did find some pieces of rhodonite and some pyrite but not a whole lot. As we had arrived there was a woman who was leaving and she had showed us what she had found, she had a piece that was the size of a brownie and the pink under the crust was such a nice rich saturated pink (reminded me of bubble yumm bubble gum) inside. That piece alone would have made my day!

Pyrite crystals are in cubes . Gold is not . Pyrite and gold are often found in the same host rock usually quartz
