Rhodonite

Rhodonite

This was a fun project for me, I love the bright pink color, and it really stands out when polished.

I’m far from being an expert when it comes to lapidary projects, so if you can think of anything I should be doing differently, please let me know.

Beautiful stuff – so cool to see your saw set up and working. Also, the baby monitor is genius.

I just purchased a few pieces of Rhodonite from a fellow rockhound. It was exciting to see the slabs & cabs. Thanks!

Maybe pouring epoxy and let it cure. Then polish the rock encased in the epoxy. Like a slight dome over the rock. Or not it is beautiful on its own.

Interesting I live in Massachusetts and that’s our states Stone and I have yet to find a good piece I found some but it wasn’t good quality. Pretty stuff

I think you mean Manganese. The black stuff is manganese dioxide. Beautiful stuff!

I wonder if stabilizing would help the crumbling problem. I looks pretty darn good to me. Havagudun bud.

Great video, awesome as usual. I think I’m gonna try to get my hands on a two wheel machine, you know for cabbing and polishing. They’re supposed to be way cheaper then high tech diamond stuff. What do you think?

I heard I can find that stuff in Josephine county
EDIT* you might want to give Chilly Grip gloves a try bro. Pretty cheap and really warm without losing dexterity or grip

two questions? 1) have you thought about a lower/less agreseive grit? 2} thought about stablizing the rock first? great video and tips!

I am not proud of that cut. LOL. Awesome to see you feature a video on it. Cabbing this stuff on a flat lap was an incredible feat by the way. I just have to point that out.

Those are beautiful! I would love to have the oblong cab cut like a scarab.
