Liu Hung Chieh Ba Gua

My most eminent teacher in China, Liu Hung Chieh, was a Lineage Master in the Internal martial arts of Ba Gua, Hsing-i and Tai chi, as well as the Water and Fire traditions of Taoist meditation. In addition, Liu was a master calligrapher and a classical Chinese scholar who also had a complete knowledge of traditional Chinese medical theory.

There is still a lot of qigong processes going on in his walking, its the other form of bagua walking. One of his legs had been badly frost bitten and he had gout in the hips, but he was still one of the greatest masters of his era.

I am reading "The Power of Internal Martial Arts and Chi" by Bruce Frantzis and was curious to see if any such films might exist. Thank you for posting this! Great book. Highly recommend it.

Thanks for posting. I noticed the stepping was really just normal walking. I thought the foot would be closer to the ground. Perhaps when you’re an Adept, it become less important??

Wow…one can just see the energy in Liu. So beautiful…and so flexible.

No unfortunately he is not. In this footage I believe he is in his eighties. I do not believe that there is footage of the art being done any better then this and sadly I do not think it will ever reach this level again. Rest in peace and thank you for your compassion to spread this priceless art.
