You can damage your crystal with fire they will crack on you because some crystals have water trapped in it and it’ll cost discoloration

Please stop telling people to have open flames in their home burning potential plastic or glass items. This is preying on uneducated people for views and engagement. Not all fake crystals will melt, that is not a fool proof test. Opalite is a glass material, it will not melt with a lighter being held to it for 10 seconds but you will more than likely burn the shit out of yourself. The best way to tell is simply looking at it, if it doesn’t look like nature created it, it probably didnt. Fake clusters will be unnaturally colored and uniform with no imperfections. Fake tumbled stones like malachite will have unnaturally black stripes throughout again in a far too uniform pattern. Glass faked quartz will be too clear and might even have air bubbles throughout in a way that will obviously register to your brain as glass. Please do not try to set your crystals on fire inside your house. Just look at it. If youre still not sure take a picture on google image identifier and compare with what you see.

The temperature test and the hardness is enough. Ametist is a very ordinary crystal, no need to fake it. Sometimes some accessories use plastic, but the shape, texture are super easy to identify, and if tou still have any doubt aboit it, the plastic ametyst doesn’t has a cold temperature.
