Six days after this video came out, I left my relationship of almost 7 years. I went from planning my wedding one day (he asked if I wanted to get married in the spring on Halloween, only to rescind it the next day because he said I needed to lose weight) to realizing I deserved so much better. The day this came out, I went out and got a journal on grief. It took 6 days until I was able to break up with my ex (he was away for work) but I resonated so much with what you were saying that I knew it was time. I started reaching out to family and friends. I started making plans. This was the first deep breath before I jumped into the deep end. I came back to this video almost a year on because I wanted to remember where I was when this video came out. If you think you want to leave, that’s enough to leave. You all deserve so much love in your life.

I’ve just had my heart broken and feel like I lost a little piece of myself. My Mum’s big thing is that if it isn’t meant to be it isn’t meant to be. This is definitely something I needed to watch, so thank you x

Thank you Niomi for sharing your experience! I’m truly glad you’re feeling much better you’re truly glowing and although this video was posted last year, with all my heart I hope you continue to shine as bright as the sun! 🙂 Your story came at the right time knocking on my door and I’ll more than gladly take that as a sign to follow your advise and push forward the break up trauma I’ve been going through for the past few months.

DEar Niomi, I am glad that you are feeling better about the breakup. I wish, however, that you would look for help in relation to your (very clear) orthorexia. It is crystal clear from your vlogs that you have some sort of eating disorder – no shaming here at all, honestly, from my heart, but I cannot not say anything when so many girls follow you and see you as an example of "healthy eating". Your eating is MOST DEFINITELY NOT HEALTHY (not because of your food choices, but because of many other details that a slightly trained eye in the field of Eating Disorders will spot within seconds, and which I am not going to get into here). I wish healing for you, on EVERY level – maybe you are already looking for help in this regard, you´ve just chosen not to make it public, and that is of course 1,000% fine. I hope that is the case. This comment is more for every single woman reading it and struggling with self-image, and thinking that Niomi´s way of eating and exercising is healthy at all (again, we are not talking about the choice of foods she eats, but her obsession with portions, excluding certain foods that she clearly deems as "bad", exercising obsessively at times, etc.). Why do I feel the need to speak up? Because I suffered from bulimia and anorexia for many years, and I am fully recovered now, and an eating disorder has NOTHING to do with food, but rather with control and lack of self-love and self-acceptance (for various reasons). Be well everyone. Xx P.S. If you don´t agree with this comment, do your research on Eating Disorders, specifically orthorexia and anorexia, and then watch Niomi´s videos again. You will see them with a new understanding. Again, my goal with this is to HELP people who may be suffering, not to shame Niomi in any way. X

This is so amazing. I echo what everyone says – so raw and real and put out there to genuinely try and help people. It got me! But then I burst out laughing when you started reeling off your acceptance speech hahaha. Here’s to even more healing and happiness xxx

  15. Beth Cross on January 4, 2022 at 11:28 am

I needed this today. I’m going through a rocky patch atm and to know that things will get better and that it’s totally ok to be selfish and put yourself first is so inspiring ❤️

  21. Delaney California on January 4, 2022 at 11:38 am

I really needed this video as I’m going through a painful breakup. Thank you for your calming advice. It’s heartbreaking to have the realization that the person we once loved and wanted to be with forever just wasn’t the right person. I convinced myself that he loved me, even whilst receiving horrible abuse from him. I just wanted to make him happy, so much so that I forgot to make myself happy.

  22. Danica on January 4, 2022 at 11:44 am

I know that heartbreaks are terrible..but what if a family member disappoints you? Suddenly doesnt care about you and you were so close for 24 years of your life?
Im struggling with this one for more than two years and honestly im just becoming more and more depressed

Going through a tough breakup as of last night. I came straight to this video to seek some sort of comfort that I will feel normal again. It’s unbearable and it feels surreal. I keep thinking it’s a bad dream but nope. Thank you for giving me some hope x

I can’t emphasise enough how much this video helped me with my break up from a 7 year relationship!! I still watch it now and it’s been a few months! Just foes to show, showing your emotions and being real to the public has soo many pro’s to it! ❤️❤️❤️

  30. ReRe G on January 4, 2022 at 11:52 am

You think you’d remember how heartbreak feels, but it is different every time. As if you’ve forgotten.

  31. Natasha Bailie on January 4, 2022 at 11:54 am

I think you are bloody fabulous – I wish we didn’t think that ‘selfish’ was a dirty word. I think you are about to enter a chapter where you celebrate you and your people and your choices xxxx

  34. koaruaok on January 4, 2022 at 11:57 am

I am going through the same thing, and I remembered Niomi’s video from a year before. I’m still in denial and shock, but knowing that it’s possible to be happy again is giving me hope. This video has given me the courage to wake up, get out of bed, and switch to self-care mode. I’ll be watching this video everyday for a while now, just as a reminder…and it feels like a friend is cheering me up. Thank you Niomi.

  35. Chantal Paquette on January 4, 2022 at 11:58 am

Sorry to hear about your break up. I hope you’re doing well and that’s things have been going better. I heard that the path you wanted to take didn’t match the path that he wanted to take. I hope you find someone better someday who’s path will match the one that you want to take. Hang in there and keep the faith

  36. Black Jasmine on January 4, 2022 at 12:02 pm

Niomi, what happened with your relationship sounds brutal but… in years to come you may come to realise that this is the best thing that every happened to you! There is a reason why this person needed to leave your life. I speak from experience! : ) Much love to you xxx

Here after a completely unexpected break up last night. Hoping that I can get something out of this and maybe start to heal. It’s just all so hard right now. I want to feel my feelings but I also don’t want to feel them.
