Dieting Ruins Your Mental Health?

This series is an educational project sponsored by Google.
I specialize in eating disorders and therefore, I work with nutritionists all the time, and over the years I have realized just how linked our diet and mental health are. Yet every day we are bombarded with media telling us to not eat this or only eat that, and I think the diet mentality has poisoned our brain and the way we think about feeding ourselves, as well as how we feel about food. That’s why today I want to really get into it. I want to learn why diet is so important, and how it could be linked to burnout and our overall mental health. Because I am not a dietitian and I don’t know why or how our diet affects our mental health, I have asked my friend and colleague Erin Naimi to shed some light on this and help us better understand how we can use food not only to feed us but also to heal.
