What is Australian Pink Opal? Where does it come from? What are its Properties?
Pink opal used to only come from Peru until a mine in Western Australia was discovered to have plenty of pink opal. This Australian pink opal is mined near the Kennedy Range National Park in the Gascoyne region of WA.
It is a pink opalized radiolarite and variant of Mookaite.
It is a very hard and brittle opal which allows it to obtain a high level of polish.
Looking forward to seeing what you do with those pinks and the wood opal next!
Does the Australian pink opal keep its color in water? And the Peru pink opal?
Isn’t that Chuck opal?
Used when you need to chuck something at a claim jumper?
Haha it’s beautiful, it would make cool scales for an articulated fish brooch with inlay opal for the body of the fish.
