JUNIOR AUDITOR DAY-TO-DAY / what auditors *actually* do & graduate advice (EY, KPMG, PwC, Deloitte)
JUNIOR AUDITOR DAY-TO-DAY / what auditors *actually* do & graduate advice (EY, KPMG, PwC, Deloitte)
In this video I talk about the day-to-day activities of a junior or graduate auditor, and generally what kind of work you would do in your first 1-3 years on the job. There’s a mixed bag of advice and description of work in this video, and would be particularly useful if you’re curious about the job having already got a role or want some background information for an interview – you could base a lot of questions or conversation in the interview about your potential role!

Im finishing my Bsc and my goal is to get in a big 4.Any tips on how to get in?Did you have any relevant experience?
Oh my father also works in kpmg
Auditors are more sophisticated clerk.
HAWT
I have some knowledge with the technical stuff like the Excel tips you’ve mentioned, and that’s one of the reasons why I want to take the audit, but I’m really really afraid because I don’t have a good foundation in auditing, especially auditing theories (when talking about the subject). Despite that, I still want to pursue this field because I think it would really help me improve my skills, and I am thinking maybe the actual training or work would help me better understand the audit. Anyway, would you still recommend the audit to me despite all these?
Ohh you have a rainbow on your T-shirt haha!
Hi, I am on my third semester in college and I am planning on applying for an accounting internship. And how can I start ? Is it possible for me right now or you’ll have to have a certain degree before considering ?
Ctrl C + Ctrl V
Totally unrelated to the topic, but can you please tell me if employers there provide training contract for international students? I’m an ACCA affiliate and I’m planning to enrol for ACA ( I should only give 2 papers ) so I’m planning to move to UK to start my corporate life. Any help would be appreciated.
PART 2 NOW UP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arnFL_yxo1c&t=2s Thank you guys for watching & really glad this video is helpful!
Your CV that got the job please
U fine af
Hey! oh my god! I’m so thankful for this video. It was very informative. Subscribed xx
thank you for the tips! Im really nervous 🙁 will be starting my career as an auditor next week. ive been reading my acca notes, standards and all study materials since i got the offer letter so i wont look dumb. your videos are really helpful, now i got more things to read and learn xD
Should do a video on politically incorrect audit tips; how to slack, essentially. I’m sure you’ve picked some of these up. For one, overpick samples so you can delete the problematic ones at the end (lol). Don’t pick foreign currency samples so then you don’t have to spend time recalculating the exchange rate. If you’re doing PPE/fixed asset verification, if it looks vaguely like a JCB, then it must be the right asset — just tick it.
And my personal favourite, strategically allocating performance materiality to untested areas in a given section so you can avoid the annoyingly difficult areas. Are you testing debtors/receivables and trade debtors and prepayments are both immaterial but you don’t fancy testing prepayments? Of course, just test trade debtors and then you can slap the ‘immaterial for further testing’ label on prepayments and you’re SORTED.
how to use formula and macro into the audit engagement
Greatful to hear what’s coming ahead
have you ever audited the police before?
What auditors do:
1. Research an audit.
2. Test the transactions, programs, etc for the audit.
3. Create and update workpapers.
4. Draft a report
5. Management take the report, say your testing sucks and write what they want in the report.
6. Repeat.
Thank you for this! I start big 4 in January and I am extremely nervous and i have anxiety that has been taking over during preparation.
this girl is pretty hot, lol
Can you get a job at pwc with a associates degree?
Great tips devamsha
Brazil here!!! Like if you can breathe hahah
Thanks alot, I enjoyed the video
KPMG – radio station
Much better consulting
Watching this, just a day after getting placed in Deloitte!
In the Big 4, during busy season can the extra hours be claimed as overtime? Do you usually get paid a higher rate for overtime? Or is it just expected in the standard salary?
Thank you for that line – have some time for your hobbies to keep hold of your sanity
Come to think of it, all the things you’ve said in this video are 100% accurate. Being a Junior myself, I was curious about the similarities between audit firms. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Thank you Devamsha! I really enjoy watching this video. Being a person who’s just preparing KPMG audit interviews, the detailed experience and tips are really valuable that I’ve never get the chance to learned them from any campus networking events. I am actually pretty excited to have the interviews!!! Appreciated and subscribed!!!!
Wished I had this when I was working in an audit firm many moons ago. Great video and initiative!
What’s your salary ?
The odds…..This was shared on my bday and I recently landed an offer at a Mid-Sized Public Accounting firm as an Auditor (Start Date in November). I’m seeking advice on how to perform well. Thanks for sharing!
oh my god this is so reassuring for me thank you
Do you think apprentices (school leaver) at big4 firms have less of an opportunity than graduates? Does the degree make a big difference in term of progression as opposed to just completing the aca?
Cash can never be a lower risk account, its always designated as a high risk due to its nature.
How’s the kool aid tasting?
I worked for KPMG, bad excerience…
A novice junior auditor not doing all of what you mention.
First when they became an auditor, basically 3 years after. (Depends on degree)
Who would dislike this video
the only thing you do at a big4 company is dying from inside every day a little more
It was a wonderful explanation of responsibilities of the junior auditor. Really appreciate it and learnt a lot from this video. Thankyou!
Very informational. Thanks from all accounting graduates
