Incredible Precious Pink Opal Specimen from Spencer Mine, Idaho – 24.3 ct

Incredible Precious Pink Opal Specimen from Spencer Mine, Idaho – 24.3 ct

Fantastic 24.3 ct pale pink precious opal from Idaho (42 x 20 x 4 mm). Normally this opal occurs in under 1 mm thick bands in volcanic rock and it has to be polished down to that thin surface to expose the fire prior to even cutting it into a usable gemstone.

This specimen is larger and has a brilliant oil slick-like fire (bands of color) along one side and a traditional play of color fire on the backside. This type of opal is colored pink from volcanic rhyolite and is highly prized for its unusual base color.
