EDIT: to clarify from some of your comments, I paid for a one hour session in the crystal bed. I did not pay $10,000 for the bed. The cost of the bed made for a compelling title. Still, I call the possibility that people considered that, “The Mr Beast Effect”

Crystal healing, where you meditate, sit or otherwise use crystals to fix some ailment, is insanely popular. But when it has no scientific or medical basis — why do people believe in it? I came to Sedona Arizona to find a collection of 40+ crystals in my Airbnb. So, this is my journey to understand *why*. I think that we are often quick to dismiss people who turn to pseudoscience, when there is more to be understood about human nature in why this happens. In making this video, I wanted to learn and talk to people with different beliefs to my own. Please be nice to each other 🔮🙏

People say that God gave us herbs for healing our physical bodies. Could it be possible that we have crystals for the healing of our Souls? Just a thought to put out there.

I want to apply for this not because I believe it but because it’s a really easy job and an easy way to make money.

  4. AriesGirl VirgoMoon on July 1, 2021 at 1:09 am

No, that bed was a money making hoax by a company that is about money. So sad… this sort of crap makes skeptics more skeptical. Crystals ROCK! : )

  5. Kyss on July 1, 2021 at 1:09 am

I like a couple of certain crystals. Made of the spirit molecule

  6. mikey on July 1, 2021 at 1:11 am

Well I found a 40 lb cluster of quartz and brought it home, left it by the rocks on the side of the house. The next day there were animals coming to it. I saw toads hide under it, a rabbit sat next to it and later saw a robin sitting on top of it. Not only that, but if you point a terminated quartz at your body, you can feel a tingling sensation. Well the cluster I picked up was a druzy quartz

  7. J B on July 1, 2021 at 1:12 am

Ok…. I’ve been kinda depressed and sad lately but I’ve always loved crystals – I have a scientific mind btw, but would it be okay if I used the placebo effect with crystals? Because I feel like having some object to help me would be nice.

  8. Annabelle Sitarek on July 1, 2021 at 1:15 am

does have one scientific benefit: pretty rock make me smile

  9. anon_Lightworker on July 1, 2021 at 1:17 am

As a scientist perhaps you should study frequency and how they affect us, a difficult study as lot of misinformation, if I could manipulate your primal instincts and your spiritual self I’d sure want to keep the whole concept quiet. If you manage to open your mind enough to understand crystal healing from a scientific base that will then give you much more understanding of many other frequency based misunderstood SCIENCE. goodluck 🙂

I mean, if it heals your crystals, it’s well worth it, right? You don’t want sick crystals.

  11. Top10iSee on July 1, 2021 at 1:19 am

Why do people listen to music (or even music created for scientists)? Can physiological effects be measured of those listening to the music? Why do people polish their cars and fingernails? Why do people wear makeup? Why is beauty in the eye of the beholder and can physiological effects be measured in the person doing the beholding? Or doing a prayer or meditation? I believe, yes. And therefore, for those who love and believe in the energies and/or properties of crystals, there must also be some measurable benefit to the believers. Namaste.

I feel like even if it is placebo and pseudoscience, how is any religion or religious practice any different?
I guess if no one is hurting anyone or rubbing it in anyone’s face then shiny rocks a shiny rock, eh?

  13. Ultimantis on July 1, 2021 at 1:22 am

6:26 "As long as you are not harming other people"

  14. Elite Phantom on July 1, 2021 at 1:23 am

There’s nothing wrong with placebo effect as long it helps us along the way.

  15. Lucky Dal on July 1, 2021 at 1:25 am

That’s some STRONG placebo effect taking place when people think crystals heal

  16. Battalon on July 1, 2021 at 1:26 am

It’s all about believe. Nothing medical, all psychological.
Buying a lot of crystals to boost any effects is the wrong attempt. Less is more.
I am new in crystals and I am not a big believer… more like down to earth.
I am planning to wear them as bracelets. 80% fashion and 20% believe. So for me it is a win nevertheless.

I feel the draw to crystals like I feel the draw to music. I know they’re not for everyone (like some instruments aren’t for everyone) but for me, I can actually feel a difference when I hold some stones and crystals. Part of it is wonder, like wow Earth really grew this gorgeous specimen, I am in awe! And another part is symbolism. I’m an artist who enjoys working with color therapy and the meaning we assign things. I agree, they are tools, not replacements for other medicines we have access to. But dangerous? Maybe if you’re bludgeoning someone to death with one yea!

  24. MA 74 on July 1, 2021 at 1:38 am

Here is my two cents on this subject. If anyone wants to add or object to this, please state your objection and then the research to back your objection.

The Hawthorne Effect, also called the Observer Effect, is where people in studies change their behavior because they are watched. A series of studies in the 1920s first shone light on the phenomenon after researchers investigated how several conditions (i.e. lighting and breaks) affected worker’s output.

When a quantum "observer" is watching Quantum mechanics states that particles can also behave as waves. … Once an observer begins to watch the particles going through the openings, the picture changes dramatically: if a particle can be seen going through one opening, then it’s clear it didn’t go through another.

As NOT a scientist it is also easy to be dismissive and judgmental about those things.

check your crystal bed with a Geiger counter first.

  27. Jeff Jackowski on July 1, 2021 at 1:43 am

Crystals are great for keeping track of time in the form of quartz crystal oscillators. You’ll find them in any computing device and anything else with a processor, since they need a clock to tell when to do the next step of running an instruction. Such devices are all over modern hospitals. It turns out crystals are used for healing after all, but for running electronic tools.

This is a really interesting video. Im very science minded and my mom is a licensed massage therapist and does lots if crystal and reiki things. I like to be sceptic and questionable, but sometimes we just experience things that can only be explained by "brain glitch" so i really like to learn about "magic" things but i also hate when people take it to an extreem.

  31. NullVoidNA on July 1, 2021 at 1:47 am

The last guy with the snyde remark about "antiscience during the pandemic" made me laugh. The "science" behind the pandemic is predatory and falsified by money hungry billionaires. Never forget that the CDC quietly changed covid deaths to just 5% of the original number. 95% of all "covid deaths" were lies. But the people calling that out are censored amd branded as "antiscience."

  32. Kyss on July 1, 2021 at 1:49 am

Crystal wisdom makes it more fake than just crystal

  33. ltlbuddha on July 1, 2021 at 1:50 am

So, since you started off the vid in a bed, my brain kept insisting that the chair you were sitting in later was a crib. It made the video a bit odd.

  34. matt donlan on July 1, 2021 at 1:53 am

For many people, stones and crystals hold as much value as wearing a tiny cross. As a Christian if wearing a cross helps them and they will all say yes. Why? It’s just small piece of metal, how can that help? It’s all about the symbolism, what the rocks stand for. They are imbued with power just like religious items are. People who don’t fully support a religion but still want to believe in something bigger than themselves. My approach is, if it works, use it.

  35. THINGY on July 1, 2021 at 1:54 am

people who refer to themselves as a "scientist" usually consider science a dogma not a process. They are devotees to the "religion of science".

I have an asbestos crystal it’s supposed to help with respiratory health and clears the air of negative energy.

  38. Mr KhaBoom on July 1, 2021 at 1:55 am

I enjoy collecting minerals and rocks because I just like them, part of why I went into geophysics. This video has helped me think more of the human aspect of the whole thing, it had always bothered me when someone brought it up, and pseudoscience in general always leaves me feeling frustrated.

I think my biggest issue is how exploitative it all can be, I mean, you don’t charge someone $10,000 to lie down unless you are trying to exploit their fears.

  39. Rick Gutleber on July 1, 2021 at 1:55 am

So Shannon’s idea of using a crystal as a focus for meditation is a perfectly fine concept. People have been using mantras, icons, crucifixes, and other similar items for the same reason for thousands of years. But the idea that crystals have some kind of physical effect due to their nature is not scientific. Thanks for the video.

Crystal healing capital! In Arizona!! Seems pretty fitting. Scam healing capital at the heart of scam capital of the world.

  42. GoldCat on July 1, 2021 at 1:59 am

So I would be interested in knowing if crystals, prayers or yoga increase self awareness??’ Like journaling does or whatever else that helps you plan ahead and realize how your feeling and thinking? So yeah , help people decrease anxiety sounds like WAY to big of an assumptions to how this works. I don’t think the crystals work , but maybe the routines people create around them help??

  43. natalie gist on July 1, 2021 at 2:00 am

You need to look up black tourmaline for water purification there is science and there is meassurable energy. Its quantum physics

  44. William Alarie on July 1, 2021 at 2:01 am

wait: did you spend 10k on this??? or were you able to somehow avoid the fee?

  45. pschroeter1 on July 1, 2021 at 2:01 am

If I had ten grand for a crystal healing bed I would spend it on a massage chair and really get get healed or at least relaxed.

  46. IsraeliMexican 99 on July 1, 2021 at 2:04 am

I don’t really think that crystals heal this way but they have the capability to store energy that might help to make up some medical components or they can even store information just like Superman by using femtosecond lasers to inscribe terabytes of date onto quartz coins.
