Gemstone Mine to Market: The Journey of a Gem [Peridot]
Gemstone Mine to Market: The Journey of a Gem [Peridot]
Where do gemstones come from and how do they get to us? How can I get the best price on my gems? Understanding the flow of gemstones from the mine to market is important to really being aware of how to shop for the best price, whether you are buying or selling.

I love this guy?
I’m not a gem collector. I like silver and gold bullion. I just recently started looking at loose gems. In your opinion. For a novice on gems would you prefer precious gems or semi precious gems to start out with. Would you prefer loose gems over jewelry???
Would love to see you do a series of yourself buying gems for cheap from miners and reselling
Good information, as usual. I look forward to having coffee with you on Saturday morning.
Well…that helps! Thankyou.
But you also have extremely expensive prices
thank you so much! this little series has been so helpful for me as an aspiring gemologist 🙂
You really need to be more enthusiastic and animated to capture our attention – just joking Peter. I love every one of your videos and am sure everyone appreciates the work that goes into producing them. Thanks again.
Thank you.
Love your channel, energy and information. I am starting to get into gems. I am looking to have some fun with it and maybe make a little on the side. I live in the United States and have easy access to Lake Superior agates. Also a amethyst mine in Canada and trips out to Montana for sapphires and garnets.
This is where my question lies. How do I determine from the gem gravel I am sorting through what is good, excellent and DAYUM quality and of that what is fooling me? I have some good pieces and would like some help (or an amazing video). I am also about to get into faceting, while I was looking for information I came across your channel and immediately subscribed.
In the end I would like to be able to go to interesting places, pull pieces from the ground and then craft them myself into something that can be turned into jewelry.
Thank you so much for your generosity of knowledge. I am going to enjoy exploring your websites and beautiful gems. Particularly interested in your direct work with artisanal miners and the range of stones in different states being available. I’m keen to make a collection as I continue with my gemmology studies.
