@DarkenShroudon February 14, 2025 at 8:44 pm
I’ve been letting Roys Rocks know about the mentions in the latest opal videos. Make sure you check out the channel later today Dave. Roy is posting one of the Ethiopian Opal carves from the rough I donate to him. From my Ohio gem and mineral shows. Think you’re gonna love it! Anyways been enjoying the Tuscon videos this year, keep it up brother!
Oh and Dave I just use Roys Rocks slow drying method on the water opal and they dry just fine from personal experience. Just gotta leave em in the baggie for longer than the Welo. I’m the Michael that always messages your Facebook about opal and Roy if u ever have any questions on how to work the water opal. Those people and most people aren’t hip that you can actually work that material. We’ve been the first to actually do it successfully on a consistent basis. Water Opal is dirt cheap too for the color at a few dollars a gram. So yeah next time be like Fire Agate Mark and grab a piece of water opal too. I taught Mark how to work the water opal already.

Absolutely stunning!!! Opal is by far my favourite gemstone, I just love how each and every stone is unique and one of a kind. Such an amazing display, that black crystal Opal is shockingly beautiful. The way it’s been carved is just mesmerising.

What a great video Dave.
I really appreciate the content you upload, as I don’t live close to any of the gem shows you visit. I am in Omaha and we just don’t have these shows, I wish we did because I’d absolutely visit this guys booth and get to know him. I need a good trustworthy source of Opal rough, and considering g the amount of news I hear about internet Opal scams it just makes it so difficult to order anything.
I am going to reach out to this guy most definitely. He seems like a really decent down to earth person that someone can trust.

Gorgeous! I’m so happy to see that more and more, people, and hopefully sellers – are getting to the point where honesty will prevail and "rare" will be used correctly soon. Opal is NOT rare, but can be labor intensive to mine, certainly. The gouging will slow down soon, we hope! The river of opal in Africa, for example, is NOT going to run out in any of the next many centuries. I can’t wait intil "rare" refers to good lapidary work/cutting so as to be more aligned with the facts! Opal is beloved, and it will never be boring or overused. Thanks for a great channel!
