The family of beryl stones include several gemstones. One of the most popular of these beautiful stones is the aquamarine. Aquamarines develop from beryllium aluminum silicate. The gem’s name comes from the Latin word for seawater. These lovely stones range in color from light green to a pale blue to a quite deep blue. As the amount of iron increases, the shade of blue in the aquamarine deepens. Aquamarines can also appear dichroic and may look either blue or colorless, depending on how you view the stone.
