You do not want to eat an artichoke raw. They are not edible raw. You want to at least steam them until the meat of it is soft. Then you can scrape the meat off the tip of each leaf and then eat the heart when you get to it. Again never eat an artichoke raw. It’s too tough and even if you succeed, you’ll have a gut ache.

Hey. I just now roasted 2 artichokes in the oven with garlic and lemons. This our very first time tasting fresh artichokes. Bit weird but not bad. We have not got to the center yet. These sure sounds like superfoods.

You can literally just cut the top and stem and also just tip off the sealed end of stem & throw it in a pot have filled with water for a boil or use less water to steam but thecwater getting on to fatty base meat does matter, its like avacado, its a heslthy oils, water steams but repels

Can we drink artichoke water very day like to drinking water ? how much we can drink artichoke water a day? Thanks

  38. @roberthubbard7424 on September 8, 2024 at 8:35 pm

Normally I steam them, then dip them in garlic and butter. However I just ate 3 cans I got from Walmart. Using salt pepper and garlic and they were pretty good too. Just trying to figure out how they deal with the hairy fibers you find at the base. When I steam them they are a mess and nasty, like getting a hair between your teeth.

I have loved artichokes ever since I was a little girl. We are Sicilian and my grandmother used to make them. My mom had an amazing recipe for them as well. She would stuff them and then pour spaghetti sauce all over them, sloppy but delicious.
