Hey guys, I decided to do a few more things to the SRP775. This video is a bit long and boring but I wanted to show as much of the process (and fails) as possible. I deleted the audio for some of the video by accident which is why I sped up part of the process. That really bummed me out. I said some inspirational stuff! I think. Maybe? Anyway, I hope you like it! Note* White balance is a bit off in the lume test. It should be more green.
P.s. As usual, this is just me documenting these mods I do. Use this info at your own risk. I am no expert. I am just a regular guy that likes to do things himself. Cheers!

I wasn’t exactly a model student in high school. I was an idiot. I smoked weed and partied a lot. It was my 16th birthday and my friend Stephen picked me up after I had finished my family’s birthday party to me. It was a school night so nothing was really going on. We cruised around and visited friends but the two of us eventually made our way to the harbor to “fog the car” which meant windows up and weed was lit.
Normally, everyone would park their cars and hide in the dark but the police regularly busted them (us) so Stephen and I had this brilliant idea of “hiding in plain sight” under the only overhead light in the area. Boy was that tiny Toyota Corolla fogged up. We could barely see and we were needless to say, very high.
All of a sudden, a huge beam of light illuminated the car. “Oh shit! It’s the cops!”, Stephen said. It was for sure the police as I saw the blue lights. “Dude we are FUCKED”, I professed.
“Open the doors!!” Stephen yelled and without a second thought, we did. A huge plume of stinky smoke erupted out of the car as if there was an actual fire IN the car. Stephen, proceeded to spray the inside of his mouth with GLADE air freshener (the ones for the bathroom) as if that was going to somehow help. So there we were, vulnerable, one of us was choking from a bad decision and the remnant inferno of sweet mary jane vomited itself out towards the sky. We waited…
The light turned off and the cops drove away. We were absolutely stunned. I bet they got a good kick out of that shit. Ahh, to be young and dumb in high school. 🙂

I need some advice. First a little background, I picked up a SOXA bezel insert (DAGAZ) and a Revenge bezel (One Second Closer) for a sort of DOXA homage… I can not seem to get the bezel off my SRPA21 . I can see a small gap between the bezel and case but can’t get anything thicker than a utility blade into it. How in the hell do people make it seem so easy to just pop off the bezel of these things and how do they not booger up the case…?
the white bezel made the gilt turtle super pretty. looks like the rolex sub of yesteryears
really enjoy these videos, the mistakes make them because we are all liable to make the same mistakes if we attempted something like this, the next time then is perfect
I did exactly the same thing to my SKX 007 earlier this year and i love it. Lumed ceramic bezel inserts are fantastic. I actually use mine for diving and it works absolutely beautifully.

Do you ever consider putting a transparent caseback on this watch? I think of doing this with my turtle but I don’t have a clue which Seiko back will fit those SRP’s without problems.

Why on EARTH didn’t you remove the bezel?
Does anyone know how durable the lume is on these inserts . Are they protected with a coating. I’m going to be diving etc and wouldn’t want the lume wearing off.
Your video convinced me to try it myself and I ordered the double domed crystal and got myself a tool kit.
It went well and the result is fantastic. The struggles I had was to remove the back cover since it was very very tight from the manufacturer and the small holder I have is not made for that kind of force. Also my crystal press is quite cheap and not even close from the one you have but I made myself a custom wood bloc with a hole just a bit larger than the crystal and it went well. I will get a better press.

When your taking small things apart it’s good to use one of those cheap clear tackleboxes with the little divide sections to put each part you take off in order from first thing you took off to the last thing you took off and just go in reverse order when your ready to reassemble. Watched an 18 year old kid from down the street completely tear down a Honda civic motor and put it back together in two days by himself using that method. Each piece of the motor had it own labeled box all the way down to the nuts and bolts. Kid seems OCD but in reality he’s a genius.

bought the coke lume sapphire insert…cracked it while fitting it to the stock bezel , I prefer the stock bezel but the LCBI insert doesnt fit..its a tad big so I bought another one AND the coin edge bezel..it fits and it looks really great…BUT the LCBI coined bezel would come off very easy compare to the stock bezel…very dissapointed

FYI: I in fact tested a turtle and a vostok case all without gaskets on purpose. So crown + case back without casebacks. I tested the case (empty) on my wrist in our local swimming hall. First I bathed the cases in warm children’s area (32°C) and right after that jumped into the olympic area (27°C). I went straight to the bottom of that pool (3,80m). Both cases didn’t let a single water molecule in.
I actually expected the vostok to fail because it "only" presses the case back down by screwing the ring in. But nope. Both watches were perfectly try. I also tried quick movements, shaking my forearms, clapping, swimming on the surface (wrists smashing the water surface). Nothing.
I guess gaskets come into play when depth become more serious.
You need to check out BlueBirdDives Lumed Sapphire Bezel for the SKX007!! Compare it to the ceramic and see what you think
Hey man, great video as always! Quick question for you…does removing a sapphire crystal (with that case press) damage (or scratch) the AR coating on the bottom of the crystal?

Personally I think you’re over sold on those lume bezel inserts .Lume is weak ,even if we say Seiko lume is un beatable it ‘s still pretty poor imo
