Finding Carnelian Agates in a Washington Forest | Rockhounding
I wander into the forests of Southwest Washington to do some rockhounding. On this trip, I find agates of all shapes and sizes including Washington carnelian agates.
Join along as we walk through more thorns, up waterfalls, and conquer the dense forest.
Filmed near Kalama, Washington on public land.

kalama is killer agate hunting love that place
Got to love that carnelian!!
I love that red carnelian!❤
The Kalama / Kelso area is such a great area to agate hunt. My most reliable agate spots in WA are in the Chehalis area, I’ll need to explore Kalama a little more. Those look gorgeous.
Where is this place at
Nice finds! Thanks for sharing g!
Nice hunt in the wilds. Good finds. Thank you.
Happy New Year! Found your Rockhounding site today — good job dig it
JACKWAGON!. Keep the lens in the creek. Showing things other than that gives away locations. Think I wrong? I have found by simply watching someone video their patches. It only took a chemtrail and a 50 yard stretch of pavement to figure out where it is, and their video had the word "Secrete" in it. LOL. NOT ANY MORE. So when you put your little video on line looking for likes and subs you are compromising all the work people do who are local to the location and have worked diligently to keep it secret. Now I know t video the couple I ran into at that very location taught them to go there. Thanks man.
I’m up in the Seattle Area, been finding some cool Jade and Aventurine.
3:47 .44 mag or .454 casul better for bears than a spray can, but unless it’s a sow with cubs, blackbears usually want less to do with you than you do with them. (Wild bears, not a dump bear or one that gets too comfortable eating dog or cat food off your porch. Them, you should put down) Come across them hunting a decent amount growing up when following deer through blackberry patches. They usually just run off.
No offense but too much of your photography is on your face.
I’d rather just see the hunt for the rocks.
That’s a nice haul. You should make some cabachons from the gemmy carnelians in the lot and set them in Silver.
Which creek is it me and my wife are rockhounds and would love to explore it
Are carnelian agates valuable, too??
I’m fortunate enough to have friends who have a creek and live in Toutle. We keep finding more of these beauties along the same stretch. The creek continues onto Weyerhaeuser property. Are they really that worried about people picking agates? Have uou tried to get permission or anything?
Nice finds! Thanks for not showing the dead opossum!
Good luck in your adventures, but I hope you can afford a personal GPS beacon. Even though you’re young and healthy, it could save your life if you fell, got bit or injured.
I can’t to go Agate hunting again soon, the Camas/Kelso area is amazing for agates in rivers. No rain for the past couple days is awesome
Difficult terrain keeps the NARP’s away. Non-Athletic-Regular-People.
Amazing spot!

Good job and that’s freezing. I know I caught my first steelhead on the Kalama when I was 10 years old at The Beginner’s hole that would have been the big run of let’s see 77? Hahaha good job carry on
Howdy, Griffin! Awe… poor possum. Thanks for the hike… I enjoyed seeing your lovely carnelian agate finds. Blessings & Bubbles…oooOOO
Lot of jewelry there. Git er dun.
Bybee creek or whatever? Haven’t had much luck up kalama river. Got some private property in toledo that’s a great spot.
Nice finds bro.
Where was it?
That giant bright red agate is so pretty. I’ve been trying to final good places in WA to get into rockhounding and crystal mining!
Introduce yourself to a machete and garden claw.
Crazy person,, eh? You’ve been talking to my in-laws, I ‘m sure. But did they tell you how much money they got from a communal slush fund and how much time they spend in their day to day having to mitigate the incessant demands coming at them like a boomerang on closed loop. (BLACK MAILED.) …The moral or the story is: STICK TO ROCK HOUNDING.ITS BETTER TO BE CRAZY THAN CRIMINAL.
Fun video
Hey rockhound. Quit stealing our rocks.
I know those creeks are loaded. Been in my fav so far down there and I wish I was there now. I’m going out today a bit further north
Cool rocks! I don’t know much about them but they’re nice.
