Utah Rockhounding Locations: Topaz, Sunstone Knoll & Obsidian

Utah Rockhounding Locations: Topaz, Sunstone Knoll & Obsidian

Quick day trip to three rockhounding locations in Utah. First we visit Topaz mountain for a quick look, then we head through Delta, Utah on our way to Sunstone Knoll to collect some yellow crystals, and we checkout some obsidian fields and pits. This is a brief overview and we will be going back to show more detail on where to look and what we found. Also, we will be visiting other rockhounding locations around Utah in the future.

I’ll trade you some obsidian coordinates. I know where there are much larger pieces close to that area.

For the obsidian, when you turn right at the split in the dirt road and the metal shack is on the left, around how long of a drive is it to the first turn off. I don’t want to get lost. Thank you for posting your outing. It looks like fun.

Strange coincidence bulker truck driver named David webb drives to that plant everyday. Its delta ipp power plant. They sell the by product flyash for concrete but cement though.
