Found My Best Garnet Crystals So Far!!

Found My Best Garnet Crystals So Far!!

Just checking in on one of my winter sites to see what I could find. I ended up finding some of the best garnets I’ve seen from that site and hopefully some nice big specimens!! I cant wait to get those big plates cleaned up to see what they’ll reveal. Have a good weekend everyone

Beautiful Garnet..! I always enjoy your Garnet video it is great study for me, I heard that there is several colors of Garnet but red one looks really attractive.

So since it’s more like contact metamorphism, is it more of a skarn? I’m only 5 min in, so maybe you explain it. Very cool spot tho!

It is so much nicer collecting when the host rock co-operates. Such a nice spot to chill, I love the ferns. Looks like you got some quality garnets bro! I think they have super nice colour and luster.

Winter is coming. You are so lucky to live in a place that doesn’t seem to get much snow so you can still rock hound.

Dang, those pieces starting at 19:30 make me wanna see the big ones! I don’t know much about garnet environments, but that seam/vein with the extra-coarse mica was definitely the right spot to look, and something I’ll pay attention to next time I’m looking for them! Very nice video!

a good way to remove garnets from the schist is soak them in vinegar and they should pop out fairly easily
