Fire opal my Ass , Great paper weight , it’s useless and worth less it has no color our fire in it , only a moron will pay that kind of money , it’s like having a big chunk of dark amber colorless, Opal is known for its true beauty and amazing colors with out that theirs no point having it our investing money on it , don’t get me wrong it’s a nice piece to carve and that’s about the most you can do with it

Is there a gemstone on earth that isn’t made on earth? (Meteorgems?)

  8. Hapera Wehiwehi on January 10, 2022 at 10:27 am

Without seeing the distinctive colourplay that makes that specimen opal, i would just assume it’s a normal honey opal. 250,000 is a bit steep when lumps of precious opal sell for only a couple hundred per kg. If it is indeed honey opal and doesn’t have much in the way of "fire" then again that reduces the price point since honey opal is relatively common.

Somebody must have been shitting their pants when she started tossing that thing around. Better hope that fire opal is covered under your insurance.

My mom owns a clear piece worth 600 euros as a necklace, I own an slightly bigger Cabochon Multicolor Black Opal. There is an ocean blue boulder opal next to me. I got moss opal somewhere, and milk opal too. We have too much opal in this house xD Edit: First I though it may be the lighting but now I know that my mom’s opal is definitely more orange compared to that one. http://bit.ly/2zBdaKf

  23. Richard T on January 10, 2022 at 10:47 am

  24. Mer Walküre on January 10, 2022 at 10:49 am

    That’s a huge one o.O

  25. Sherri Zanoli on January 10, 2022 at 10:49 am

Fire opal is usually found in Mexico. The city of Durado has the cleanest, most clear fire opal.
There is also a deposit found in Oregon in the US, it is clearer and more beautiful than Durado Fire Opal. The US opal is found in yellow, honey and strawberry colors.

  26. oSo on January 10, 2022 at 10:51 am

That’s Mexican fire agate not fire opal. Fire opal like that would come from Oregon and have a mohs hardness of 5.5 – 6.5. that Mexican fire agate (if it came from Mexico) will have a mohs hardness of 7+

  27. Terrapin Rocks on January 10, 2022 at 10:52 am

To know I had just been haphazardly handling a stone worth a quarter of a million dollars would make my heart jump into my throat. xD Great video.

  30. broken logic on January 10, 2022 at 10:55 am

    Black opal

  31. Charles Samuel Penn on January 10, 2022 at 10:56 am

Not to nitpick, but the editing is super annoying an unnatural. If you’re in such a hurry, why not edit out playful banter. You guys twitching and glitching through your sentences makes your videos…well…just listenable. Take it easy on the "split/delete/scoot" will ya’.

  32. Nico Denvir-Araoz on January 10, 2022 at 10:57 am

    Please do green opal next!!!

  35. Paddy Mc on January 10, 2022 at 11:01 am

Aussie Fire Opal is so much nicer, and much rarer, it has play of colour.

  36. Shadowbanned By Google on January 10, 2022 at 11:01 am

I wonder what it would look like shining different color lasers through it?

  37. Erik Burman on January 10, 2022 at 11:01 am

How is that a gemstone? Fire opal? Where are the beautiful brilliant colors? It’s nothing like an Australian black opal. The color is dull and unattractive. The jewelry is bland. I’d pay no more $30 bucks for the entire stone.
