MINERAL MONDAY – AZURITE

MINERAL MONDAY – AZURITE

Azurite has a very distinctive deep blue “azure” colour and is a secondary copper mineral. It forms in similar conditions to malachite. Azurite precipitates out of mineral rich water filling cavities and pore spaces underground, often found close to copper ore deposits.

Specimens are housed at the Lapworth Museum of Geology.
