We Found Black Tourmaline Crystals, Rose Quartz, and Aquamarine Beryl at Hogg Mine in Georgia!

In this video I team up with PaleoCris and Ashley to go to Hogg Mine near Columbus Georgia! This was our first time at this location and we really had a blast. We ended up finding some incredible Black Tourmaline Crystals, rose quartz, and even some Aquamarine Beryl Crystals! It was 33 degrees in the morning with a high of 60 for the day, so the weather was absolutely perfect for digging. Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!

Go to Spruce Pine, North Carolina… You can find Emeralds, Beryl, Aquamarine, Tourmaline, Rubies, Garnets, and sapphires. You can easily pan gold from almost ANY creek, stream, or river, in that area. I was raised there. I am 67 years old and have found several ounces of gold, and dozens of Gem crystals, some, even on our property…

This was the first mining I ever did! 1966 and it was called The Big Beryl Mine back then, I found a huge clear piece of Aquamarine as big as the end of my thumb! Unfortunately took it to school where the Teacher was supposed to watch over it but it Disappeared!! Only got to go a few times after that and now that I live 45 minutes away I Hope to be able to go again after this mess is over!

I heard from Florida. Have you been to rucks pit down near ft drum, the ft drum crystal mine I think it’s called now? Super fun place here in Florida exclusive fossilized calcite clams

All we have to do here in Georgia to find quartz is go in a spot of our yard where there is no grass.

WILDKYLE and team–you rock, literally!! My sis and I, both Florida girls, are heading to the Hogg Mine next week. We have never been there and now feel we have a better idea what to expect. We are really hoping to find just a few treasures to take home. We get such a kick out of your videos and learn so much. Love your sense of humor. Thanks for the entertainment!

The search for specimen pieces was exciting. I used to bring home rocks all the time and this brings back that joy. Thank You both and Kudos! Ashley (love the dance!!!)

    My birthstone is tourmaline! Wow!

  34. Melina Stroumpis on December 8, 2021 at 11:00 am

Wow. Nice finds! I grew up in the Atlanta area but wasn’t into rockhounding back then. Started once moved to Colorado and even then didn’t find any great places – found some nice small quartz points at times. But this place looks great. We live in the Daytona area so not too far of a drive to this mine now. Any others in the southeast you suggest? 🙂
