    I just realised by malenchite is so unstable is just like real life. Malenchite releases toxic gases and fumes in the air once exposed to water. And lapis lazuli seems to have water themed powers. Which results in a toxic fusion.

    The thing is: if you’re older than you can probably recognize that this seems very pressured upon Lapis. I know she had a plan but before we knew that when Jasper said, “just say yes” that just gave me a bad vibe

    You know I really appreciate the way the gems dance all differently

    Pearl is a more ballet style for sure
    And I cant exactly name all the other on the spot but

    Despite Jasper’s smile the dance they did was pretty nice
    And if you remove the intensity of the scene
    Put it in slow motion its not bad

    People say Jasper forced Lapis to fuse when Lapis literally could’ve shattered her on the beach but instead deliberately chose to fuse with her for the sole purpose of imprisoning her ans taking out all her frustration on Jasper

    "But no Jasper forced her she was holding her arm–" YO we literally just watched Garnet kick Jaspers ass single handedly to a bop, whereas the entire Crystal Gems couldn’t even lay a finger on Lapis. Lapis was not forced to do anything here and it really bothers me how little agency the Fandom gives her

    Five years later and this scene STILL gives me the chills. Rebecca knew how to create a suffocating atmosphere, that’s for sure.

    I love how not only does malachite have two echoing, synchronized and unfused voices…. it seems like whichever gem is the most "in control" has a louder voice… and the other just sounds like an echo of it. Listen to this clip, then listen to the fight scene with Alexandrite. In this clip she sounds like Lapis with Jasper echoing it, (even when Jasper is clearly the one speaking) because Lapis is still dominant. In the other, Jasper has the more dominant voice, especially in the first part of the scene where the chains break and Malachite says "if we’re going to be this thing together, then why not have some fun?". Their voices seem to even become balanced in volume as the fight scene progresses and they start to lose themselves.

    I love how it’s their voice actors who are voicing Malachite, because of how Malachite was not fused with love. It was a toxic kind. Garnet, and Stevonnie were fused with love, and even have one voice actor to voice them.
