Pink Fire Quartz has tiny inclusions of covellite, a copper sulfide (CuS). This quartz gets it’s schiller effect from the tiny hexagonal inclusions of covellite. The inclusions grow parallel to one another and they are micron-thick covellite crystals.
This is one of the rarest quartz varieties and valued around the world for it’s etherial beauty. The pink fire is visible just from few angles because the covellite crystals are iso-oriented in a epitactic growth over a phantom face of the quartz crystal.
The red inclusions are strongly elongated hematite crystals. The material comes from Espirito Santo State in Brazil.
