Faceting Gemstones From Outer Space.

Faceting Gemstones From Outer Space.

Hello and welcome to my channel. Watch me facet a gemstone that was formed by a meteorite impact. The name of this gem is called “Moldavite”. Watch how I transform this rough clear greenish vitreous silica projectile rock into a beautiful gem. Thank you for watching. Email- vintagetimegems@aol.com

Cliff, a fantastic job cutting and excellent design choice for that piece of rough. Thanks for this fine video.

This was so amazing to watch. The bonus was the Moldavite! Have been enjoying the natural form of Moldavite for years, but must confess the polished is intriguingly alluring. That final reveal was spectacular! I’m hooked.

I can see why this stuff is in such high demand. Such a unique appearance and origin.

It may sound crazy , but one way they are making fake Moldavite with the bubbles is by firing molten glass out of a catapult. That not only gives the bubbles , but also the flow marks on the outside.

What a gorgeous gem! I love its unusual grey green colour, and the fact it comes from outer space makes it even more special.

Does that machine have a travel limiter on the manipulator? Like on the protractor so a person could cut by numbers if need be? would it be needed for anything beyond mass production?

  22. Shuvanga Timilsina on January 10, 2022 at 10:49 am

I found stone i want to find if the stone that i have is real, where can i send it for u to see sir. Thanks

  32. MrAffeman on January 10, 2022 at 11:02 am

After you glued it the second time, did you facet the stone all the way or did you slice off a piece before? It looks like there’s a sizeable piece you can cut loss and grind to another jem from and you’ll still have enough to facet the first stone, making a table and all that… or did I miss something?

  33. john lomax on January 10, 2022 at 11:04 am

Gold is also from outer space

  34. Todd Roe on January 10, 2022 at 11:05 am

Absolutely gorgeous!! Well done Cliff!! When you said 5.5 I was like, oh wow that is soft!!

  35. Truth Seeker on January 10, 2022 at 11:07 am

My aunt gave me a bunch of rocks and she included moldavite. It’s almost looks black but when under a light it’s green. Are some moldavite darker while not under the light?

  36. THEAMFM27 on January 10, 2022 at 11:07 am

  41. Darkfire1357 on January 10, 2022 at 11:13 am

I don’t understand how you cheat? Is their an easier way to get the gem corrected without grinding by hand or?

  42. maria ann on January 10, 2022 at 11:15 am

usually, a 5.5 on the mohs scale isnt ‘very soft’ compared to stones like calcite or flourite. but being that moldavite is a natural glass, it probably is a wee bit softer than a gemstone that is a 5.5

  43. Basement_Trickster on January 10, 2022 at 11:15 am
