I am a United fan yet this goal is such a technicality. He didn’t touch the ball which is valid by the offside law but he in essence is close enough to make it count as a play and the defenders react to him accordingly. Probably the most gray area in the offside law. Could be valid either way imo but I wouldn’t complain if they chopped that goal either

  2. Nicholas de Barros on January 15, 2023 at 12:29 am

Would’ve been called offside at the world cup

  3. Qian Chen on January 15, 2023 at 12:31 am

Obviously offside. How refree dare ???If rashford didn’t run after ball, it’s count.

  4. Jarret C on January 15, 2023 at 12:33 am

    involved in the play. offsides.

  5. SUB5CR163 on January 15, 2023 at 12:37 am

    We call this double standard

  6. Việt Lại Đắc on January 15, 2023 at 12:37 am

If the City defender tackled Rashford, the ball would not have been given.

  7. Y Mazz on January 15, 2023 at 12:37 am

The moment Rashford moved towards the ball, the flag should have been up… Why has it been the norm even through the World Cup that there is a delay in lifting the flag … Allowing the play to continue puts the officials in a bind.

  8. Don Kim on January 15, 2023 at 12:38 am

It freaking doesn’t matter he touched or not. Referee is crazy

  9. Youssef Bodo on January 15, 2023 at 12:40 am

It’s offside because he run to the ball and made the move…and the ball was sent to him…bad call !!!

  10. Tallgeeselll05 on January 15, 2023 at 12:40 am

Offsides rule changes every week. GGMU LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

This is the problem with letting the play finish while a player is offsides. Just go back to how it used to be instead of altering it every season.

  11. Vaibhav H on January 15, 2023 at 12:41 am

Even if it’s offside, you play until the whistle. Ederson and Walker should have still given 100 percent into putting a challenge and making a stop there.

  12. Anoop Patel on January 15, 2023 at 12:45 am

United Fan Here. 100% offside. Akanji would have stepped across and attempted to block Fernandez / possible different outcome.

but we will take win. happens in football + united showed spirit. you have to take the luck, the decisions and its unfortunate that it has to transpire this way

  13. James Hegeman on January 15, 2023 at 12:45 am

    Lmao That’s not a f***ing goal

  14. Josh on January 15, 2023 at 12:46 am

Manchester United playing with 12 men.

  15. Jared Carey on January 15, 2023 at 12:47 am

What is the point of VAR though, rashford is clearly running with the ball affecting the play while being offsides. Man U deserved the win but this is 100% against the rules of the game, he’s objectively affecting the play by running with the ball

  16. xXYayBoiXx on January 15, 2023 at 12:48 am

I think it’s offside but then y they blow whistle till he touches the ball on other offside plays.

  17. sungkisizeking on January 15, 2023 at 12:50 am

    Perfect decoy

  18. luke9:23 on January 15, 2023 at 12:54 am

Glazers handed out some vacation homes for the refs

  19. xoGenesisox on January 15, 2023 at 12:55 am

    How is this a goal?

  20. EP 91 on January 15, 2023 at 12:55 am

Isnt going for the ball offside. I’ve seen plays like this where the player just stands and the ball rolls pass him forr another striker to put it pass the net and it counts, but here he more than clearly goes for the ball which alters the way they defend.

  21. Wesley James on January 15, 2023 at 12:55 am

What is the letter of the law?

  22. Y Mazz on January 15, 2023 at 12:56 am

By that logic…what’s next tall forwards standing and hoping in front of opposing goalkeepers to obstruct the view … The forward didn’t touch the ball… So the goal should be allowed if it goes in?

  23. Jesse Varela on January 15, 2023 at 12:58 am

Can’t stand Man City but how the heck is that not offsides?
So a player that’s offsides can shield the ball until one of his teammates arrives and as long as he doesn’t actually touch the ball it’s not considered offsides now?

  24. hot head on January 15, 2023 at 12:59 am

once rashford did his run the flag shouldve went up its common football knowledge

  25. CAP SLAPS on January 15, 2023 at 1:00 am

    Manchester is Red

  26. Jedi Five on January 15, 2023 at 1:00 am

ok, i am genuinely confused and lost on why this is a goal.
we all agree Rashford was offsides, no one is disputing that.
the question is, did Rashford interfere in the play. you can argue Rashford didn’t touch the ball
but then is interference only when a player who is offsides touches the ball?
i’ve seen goals disallowed where the offside player didn’t touch the ball, he just in the way and interfered
    in the play.
    what am i missing here?

  27. Abdullahi M on January 15, 2023 at 1:05 am

Bro look at Ederson. He’s fully prepared for Rashford to take that shot. He even does a fake shot and somehow that’s not offside. Premier league doing their best to keep this league not look like a joke for pep

  28. Joe Mama on January 15, 2023 at 1:06 am

“clearly attempting to play a ball which is close when this action impacts on an opponent or
making an obvious action which clearly impacts on the ability of an opponent to play the ball”
    – FA Law 11

100% an offside based on the FA definition. What were thees refs smoking

  29. gary83uk on January 15, 2023 at 1:09 am

Akanji was much closer to the ball than Fernandes, the only reason he doesnt get there before him is because of Rashford.

  30. thedemonioo696 on January 15, 2023 at 1:10 am

Se la mamaron! Es fuera de lugar!

  31. PaulyG on January 15, 2023 at 1:11 am

play to the whistle, that’s like rule #1 of the game. not much to complain about if you give up mid play.

  32. NR on January 15, 2023 at 1:14 am

    Nonsense decision

  33. Ian Thrasher on January 15, 2023 at 1:15 am

Oh GOD YESSSSSSS!!!!! The salty tears. They sustain me.

  34. Chris Parsons on January 15, 2023 at 1:16 am

The law states that if an offside player moves toward the ball then the flag has to be raised and he’s offside. Manure getting decisions in their favor again. That should have gone to VAR.

  35. Mansoor Idris on January 15, 2023 at 1:17 am

Since when i was young I know if you show interest in the ball thats ruled out. Rashford ran with the ball. How on earth did the VAR not rule it out. Linesman knew it

  36. Salvador Sandoval on January 15, 2023 at 1:21 am

Wtf he was involved in the goal scoring play this shouldn’t have counted!

  37. Atkascha on January 15, 2023 at 1:22 am

I always thought "going for the ball" while in an offside position, would deem a player offside. As in, engaging in the play.

I don’t have a dog in this fight (Notts County fan lol) but the PL gets more interesting when teams are closer together in the table.

  38. Mark Rob on January 15, 2023 at 1:22 am

    Offsite!!!

  39. CornBreadRL on January 15, 2023 at 1:22 am

if u think this is a goal, you’re a man united fan, if you dont think this was a goal, you understand ball.

  40. Reagan Lam on January 15, 2023 at 1:23 am

Peter Drury says Rashford "kept his distance" bro he literally didn’t

  41. Josue Zavaleta on January 15, 2023 at 1:24 am

No way that was a goal Marcus rashford played the play there for offsides

  42. LILBEANSTNWA1976 on January 15, 2023 at 1:24 am

IF HE WASNT OFFSIDE HE SHOULD HAVE STOPED RUNNING. HE INTENTIONALLY FAKES THE SHOT.

  43. Barry Badrinath on January 15, 2023 at 1:26 am

If you watch closely walker making the run with Bruno is why this goal is allowed to stand, he never played Marcus so it never made Kyle switch his speed or direction, meaning there’s no interference, ederson also isn’t being impeded because he’s got a clear line of view of the ball and Bruno

  44. john done on January 15, 2023 at 1:27 am

Just have the officials make it clear as long as the offside player didnt touch the ball its not off side, easy
